What day should I show up for my free trial class?
We recommend the evening classes for a beginner. Please look at the current schedule and find one that works best for you.
What time should I arrive?
Arrive 15 minutes early to class. You will need to fill out a waiver form to participate and meet the instructors.
Do I need to make an appointment?
An appointment for a free trial class is not required, but advance notice is appreciated. Contact us via our website or Facebook.
What should I wear?
Dress in comfortable workout clothes, preferably without zippers, snaps, or anything else that might damage the mats. Sweatpants or shorts are ideal.
Do I need to have a uniform to try a class?
A uniform is not necessary for the free trial class. However, you will need one to continue your Jiujitsu training.
Are there any forms to fill out prior to arriving?
No, all required forms to try a class are available at the academy.
Starting
How much are dues?
We believe in transparent pricing and no contracts. Current dues are $159 a month for adults for unlimited classes, and $139 a month for kids with potential discounts for families.
What is the start-up fee?
There is a one-time $50 set up fee which can be applied toward the purchase of uniform at the academy.
Where do I purchase a Jui Jitsu gi?
We have a full range of gis available at our academy to try on and purchase. While you might want to buy a gi online (lots of different options) we will be more than happy to help you find / recommend the right gi.
How do I take care of my monthly dues?
All payments are done at the academy. We recommend an auto pay program where monthly dues can be collected from your credit or debit card. Easy to stop at anytime.
How many classes can I attend per week?
The monthly fee covers unlimited classes.
How often should I train?
Most beginners attend 1-2 classes a week. There are a few passionate students who attend 3-4 classes a week.
Leveling Up
How do promotions work?
There is color belt system leading up to a black belt. For adults it is white - blue - purple - brown and then black. We hold promotions to award stripes as you progress between belts.
Are there any promotion fees?
Promotion fees are common in martial arts, however there are no promotion fees at Vianna Brothers. We consider it an honor for us to be able to recognize you for your hard work. We also provide you with your new belt.
How long does it take to become a black belt?
For an adult attending 2 classes a week, it will take approximately 10 years to attain the rank of black belt. This information is given as a guideline only.
